Engine Build Up Continued....
...time to pull the old engine:

I pulled the radiator, front engine brackets, and water pump first. The crossmember was unbolted from the frame and tranny tail, and the speedo cable pulled with the modulator vacuum line along with the reverse switch line. The engine mount horizontal bolts pulled and headers unbolted from the collectors and heads, the brake line going to the front passenger side pulled back through the driver's side header (had to worm through a space in the driver's side header when I installed the drum to disc brake upgrade, I used thermotape to protect it. The disc brake proportioning valve is right next to the driver's side header. I plan on bending this line so it won't have to go through the header later), the tranny cooler lines loosened from the tranny as they had to also be wormed through the passenger header when I installed the Dynamax headers (anyone who has worked with Poncho or Olds motors can appreciate this problem), the column shifter and engine to firewall ground strap disconnected, , and brake/tranny vacuum lines pulled aside. The engine was ready to be pulled now, after securing the tranny with a floor jack and pushing the crossmember back.

Unfortunately, I had to drop in the 350 without the 200R4 tranny. This was due to the deep Milodon oil pan not clearing the crossmember unless I dropped the block without the tranny. The next plan is to completely assemble the Rocket block, break it in, and then get some help to push the 200R4 from underneath. It's getting close now! I am still trying to figure out the best way to place the shifter in the car, being the I'm going from column shift (the old Jetaway) to a console shift.
