EXPERIENCE Globe Wireless
Communications
January
9, 2003 to Present
RF/Support
Engineer
Test, Install, and
Troubleshoot HF radios, modems, coupler antenna tuners, RF cabling, and
associated equipment.
Assist in design upgrades on
Globe Wireless modem incorporating OFDM and 4/8PSK modes
Field work involving all of
the above duties plus customer service/support.
Assist
in ship to shore upgrade from half duplex to a full duplex system using LAP
protocol, burst detection
negating the need for searching/waiting for a free signal in HF.
Bils Technology, Inc.
October
2002 to Present
Design
Engineer
Design, layout, and capture
IC boards using Protel 99 SE.
FPGA, CPLD and
other ASIC components involved in designs.
Main customer

Globe Wireless Communications
February
2002 to October 2002
RF
Design/Test/Support Tech
Test, Install, and
Troubleshoot HF radios, modems, coupler antenna tuners, RF cabling, and
associated equipment.

AirNet Communictions Corporation, April 2001 to June
2001
RF
and Board Test
Tested defective DSP, GPS,
T1/E1, and other wireless base station components using RACAL,
Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, T-BERD BERR tester and
other test equipment.
Worked
on GSM base stations on a system level, supporting field and prototype units
Performed
RCA (root cause analysis) on any boards or base stations returned from the
field with
AirNet component
failure. RCA’s were logged using
Continuus and MS Access.
ESD
tested and certified, May 2001
GE Harris Railway Electronics, July 2000 to April
2001
Pinpoint
Plus Locomotive Tracking Test and Server Support
Developed and maintain Active
Server Pages (web) using Visual Studio Enterprise Edition. This
involved building
an NT server using MS Small Business Server.
Locomotive OBC’s sent binary
GPS, fuel, and other important data via satellite Modem (ORBCOMM), which
constantly updated a SQL Server 7.0 database.
Developed and personally
provided round the clock support for the PinPoint Data Center Server, GPS based
with GIS Client and web interfaces for CSXT (customer).
Designed and tested multimode
communications structure, consisting of satellite, cell, and 802.11 radio modes
of failover to provide uninterrupted data flow to and from locomotive and
Pinpoint Data Center.
Performed thermal, EMI and
vibration testing on various RF, processing and on board systems.
Tested
and modified Norcom satellite modem for use in a rooftop assembly incorporating
various
other
modes of communicating locomotive data.
Norcom provided Omni and Patch (steerable)
versions of their
satellite modem, and a test range was set up for efficency testing. This involved an
understanding of
line loss and satellite signaling.
Wrote and
implemented test plans for prototype multimode communication system, involving
setting up and
personally running thermal and vibration testing on prototype rooftop units.
Performed
RF coupling tests by constructing antenna farms consisting of customer rooftop
configurations, used
an HP Network Analyzer to perform S11 and S21 field tests.
GE Harris Railway Electronics, April 1999 to July
1999
Created a track system
relational database using Smallworld software, for use in a GIS for UP
Began design on a web server
environment to control interactions between GE Harris data center, locomotives,
and CSX locomotive manager server
Held
various positions including hardware design, production, and design control
engineer
Designed
initial hardware layout for ISC (Interim Systems Controller) for ISS
(International Space
Station). Timing Diagrammer was used for calculating
digital timing for 20’ cabling delays intrinsic
with Space
Station telemetry components.
Visio was used for
initial drawings of wiring and ‘black boxes’, approved in department
meetings and then personally
handed to drafting for AutoCAD drawings.
Approved assemblies were
personally followed through manufacturing, buzzed out and used in thermal and
vibe tests.
Participated
in ATP for SSCR project, used Lab Windows programs to control thermal cycling
tests.
ESD
and HI-REL tested and certified through February 2000
